Ivan Toney: Brentford striker 'helping FA with enquiries' subsequent to wagering charges

Brentford striker Ivan Toney says he is "helping the Football Relationship with their enquiries" after public paper reports claimed he was being explored for betting on football.

The FA restricts players from wagering on the game and it is guaranteed the 26-year-old is being examined for verifiable wagers made before he joined the Chief Association club.

The FA declined to remark and his club said: "We note the story concerning Ivan Toney and the FA examination. The club won't remark."

Toney was named in Britain chief Gareth Southgate's last crew for September's Countries Association games however didn't get on the pitch.

Anyway he has been tipped to make the crew for the impending Scene Cup in Qatar when it is declared on Thursday, in the wake of scoring eight objectives in 13 games this season.

The previous Northampton, Newcastle, and Peterborough player, who joined Brentford for £5m in 2020, put out an announcement on Twitter which read: "I'm mindful of a tale about me in a public paper today.

"I have been helping the Football Relationship with their enquiries and won't offer any remark until such examination has arrived at its decision.

"I'm a pleased British chap and it has forever been my life as a youngster dream to play for my country at a World Cup finals."
