Cameroon / Burkina Faso: Abubakar instructs Cameroon to beat Burkina Faso in the Total Energy Afcon Opener

The indomitable Lions captain Vincent Abubakar led hosts Cameroon in the opener of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon 2021, with two goals for a 2-1 win against Burkina Faso.

At the new sold-out Olembe Stadium in Yaounde, the hosts were able to win against a strong stallion on Sunday.

Gustavo Sangare gave the Burkinabers the lead with a powerful volley 24 minutes after roars from the defense in Cameroon's penalty area.

Bertrand Traore's welcoming wing in the Indomitable Lions zone is not intended to release unmarked cages outdoors.

The goal stunned the home fans, who stood behind their side and cheered 12 minutes later after Traore brought down Andre Angisa in the penalty area in the shootout for the Cameroonians.

Abubakar easily equalized, sending Burkina keeper Faso Kofi in the wrong direction.

Vincent Abubakar took his second penalty late in the half when Faye Collins was fouled by Dayo in the penalty area.

In the second team, both teams conceded to each other, with the Cameroon goalkeeper making a big save in the first minute after the restart.

Bertrand Traore broke with a low cross from a set from the right, cleared by Ngadeu, into the path of Ibrahim Traore, whose first shot was aimed at the Ajax goalkeeper.

Cameroon hit the ball from Burkina Faso in the 55th minute, but Abubakar's first pass to Muni Ngamaleu missed.

The win takes Cameroon into Group A ahead of the second game of the day between Ethiopia and Cape Verde.
