UBA Ghana named best prepaid card bank by Global Technology Partners - GTP

United Bank for Africa (Ghana) Ltd. voted number one for prepaid cards in Ghana by technology partner Global Technology Partners (GTP).

At the awards ceremony, Ike Anison, SVP, Head, Acct Mgt, Global Technology Partners, mentioned the flexibility of GTP and how GTP relies on partners such as banks to provide the best service to their customers.

He praised UBA Ghana for adopting the concept of a prepaid card to make transactions easier for its customers. He said, "There are about 25 co-branded partnerships and virtual cards to come and only UBA has one on the market at the moment."

He also pointed out that following the completion of the pilot project with Ivory Coast, prepaid and virtual Mastercard cards will soon be launched in Ghana.

At the awards ceremony, Olalekan Balogun, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UBA Ghana, thanked GTP for one of the oldest relationships and close cooperation to increase UBA's market entry.

Prepaid cards are very convenient and safe to use, but they are less popular in Ghana, which is why Africa's global bank, United Bank of Africa, is one of the few banks to offer prepaid cards. The UBA prepaid Visa card is EMV chip certified and offers Visa performance, convenience, security and prestige.

Mr Balogun added that the card is currently intended to serve two people, individuals and businesses. Under Corporate there are two suggestions given; Corporate and branding costs together.

The UBA prepaid card, which is equipped with various fraud detection and prevention options, can curb fraud to some extent. This card has an integrated chip and requires a PIN before each transaction.

This card has a transaction speed limit that does not allow users to exceed the fee limit and make excessive transactions in a short period of time.
