"Let's Encourage Female Pupils To Embrace STEM Education"- Gifty Twum-Ampofo

Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo popularly called Hajia Kande, Member Of Parliament, Abuakwa North Constituency, who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Education (TVET), has admonished parents, teachers and all stakeholders to encourage female pupil's participation in Science, Technology, Engineering And Mathematics (STEM) Education.

Speaking to the press after the Abuakwa North Municipal Science And Maths Quiz Finals on 15th October, 2021 at the Presbyterian Church Hall in Akyem New Tafo, the honourable member of parliament raised concerns that, all the eight finalists from the four schools did not have female representation, a situation she blames on inadequate sensitization of girls on STEM education in the Constituency.

Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo as a headline sponsor of the aforementioned quiz, called for parents, teachers and all stakeholders to encourage girls at their early age to embrace STEM education as the best way for academic excellence and job placement since women are naturally endowed with the best of intelligence quotient.

"I'm enthused that, as a former Eastern Regional President of Science And Maths Teachers Association of Ghana and currently the deputy minister of education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training(TVET), this Maths and Science quiz has successfully been organized and executed. I'm once again happy to acknowledge that females occupy majority of higher positions in my constituency, the Municipal Coordinating Director, the Municipal Education Director, STEM Director and majority of Officers at the Municipal Education Directorate are all women, this depicts that women in Abuakwa North are doing very well.

My little worry was that, all the eight finalists from the four schools had no female representation. I therefore request that, we all put our hands on deck, teachers and parents especially to sensitize our girls to embrace STEM education to spearhead Government's industrialisation agenda." Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo.

She further congratulated all the participating schools especially CRIG JHS for winning the ultimate prize and encouraged them to learn harder to improve their knowledge.
